Interested in becoming a volunteer? This season's training dates are listed below.   All trainings are free. Our space is limited, so pre-registration is required.

Learn more about WHEP, find out how we determine wetland health and learn how to conduct the sampling. Learn tips and techniques for identification. Meet other volunteers and join your team.

The Introduction to WHEP and Field Methods Training session includes time outside, so please dress for the weather and wear appropriate field clothes.  Please wear shoes that can get wet, the grassy areas may be a little sloshy.  If you have waders, feel free to bring them.

The Macroinvertebrate and Vegetation Identification training sessions are held indoors in a classroom and a biology lab.

To register for training please complete the Dakota County or Hennepin County registration form located on the "Get Involved" page. Plan to attend one training session in each of the three categories. You may attend either Dakota County or Hennepin County specified training; however, please try to attend the training in your home county. Training is not mandatory, but is highly recommended.
